A History of Trust
Koers & Associates Engineering Ltd. has provided consulting engineering services on Vancouver Island since 1987. With a staff of 18, we provide customized and personal civil engineering services with a specialty in municipal infrastructure and land development projects.
Our operations are almost exclusively oriented to Vancouver Island, which provides access to a steadily growing market for our services, and provides our employees with the luxury of living and working in one of the most spectacular natural environments.
We will continue to solidify our market share on Vancouver Island, by concentrating on providing the best solutions for the engineering needs of our existing clients, with emphasis on environmental stewardship and sustainability. We will continue to build on our reputation, with service that relies on long-term relationships with our clients and strong professional ethics. We emphasize quality over profitability, keeping our eye on overall long term financial health and client satisfaction.
We will look to expand our client base on the Island as opportunities arise and to prospective clients and projects that are compatible with and acceptable to our current clients. We will regularly review the services we offer and will be open to broaden the scope of our services should market conditions demand, and provided we are confident that we can ensure a sustainable and exceptional level of service to our clients.

Rob Hoffman
Principal
Rob graduated from UBC in 1993 with a degree in civil engineering and has been with Koers & Associates since 1999. He has been a life-long resident of Nanaimo where he lives with his wife and two daughters.
At work Rob is involved in multi-utility infrastructure improvement projects for various municipal and private clients in the mid Vancouver Island area. When not at work, Rob tries to keep active on his mountain bike, the golf course or at the ball hockey rink.
Chris Downey
Principal
Chris has been a part of Koers & Associates since graduation from UBC Civil Engineering in 1993. Chris provides a wide range of civil infrastructure projects, with a specialty in water treatment facilities, pump stations, reservoirs, large transmission mains and sanitary interceptors and forcemains.
Outside of work Chris enjoys exploring trails on his bike or swimming laps in the local pool.
Mitchell Brook
Associate
Mitchell has been with Koers & Associates Engineering Ltd since graduating from the University of Saskatchewan in 2006 with a degree in civil engineering. He has a wide range of civil infrastructure experience, including large diameter water transmission mains, reservoirs, pump stations, water distribution systems and sanitary sewer collection systems and also has extensive background in computer modelling for water systems and long-range capital planning.
Kevin Dougan
Associate
Kevin graduated from UBC with a degree in civil engineering and has been with Koers & Associates since 2013. He oversees a wide range of municipal infrastructure projects, including water supply and distribution mains, PRV stations, sewer gravity mains, pump stations, and forcemains, storm sewers, creek culverts, and street upgrades.
Kevin lives in Nanaimo with his wife and two children and also volunteers with the Engineers & Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) Vancouver Island Branch and the Vancouver Island University (VIU) Engineering Program Advisory Committee.
